# Server boosts

> How GiveawayX tracks boosts, and how to use them in giveaways and thank-you messages.

GiveawayX keeps count of how many times each member has **boosted your server**, so you can reward boosters in giveaways and thank them on the dashboard.

## How boosts are counted

Whenever someone boosts the server, Discord posts a boost message in the server. The bot reads these messages and adds them to that member's total:

* One boost adds **1**.
* If a member applies several boosts at once, all of them are added.
* The date of their **latest boost** is remembered.

> The bot can only count boosts it **sees**. Boosts made before GiveawayX joined the server, or while it could not read the boost messages, are not counted automatically.

## Thank-you messages
