# Auto Ping

> Remind members about a running giveaway by repeating the role or @here ping at an interval you choose.

Tier 2

**Auto Ping** re-sends the same **role or `@here` ping** your giveaway used, again and again while it is running. It keeps a long giveaway visible without a host having to post reminders by hand.

## How it works

**1. The giveaway starts normally**

It is posted with the ping roles or `@here` you chose.

**2. The bot repeats the ping**

Every time the interval passes, the bot posts a new reminder in the giveaway's channel.

**3. The old reminder is removed**

Before each new reminder is sent, the previous one is deleted, so the channel never fills up with ping messages.

**4. It stops**

Pings stop when the giveaway ends, or earlier if you set a maximum number of pings.

## Settings

| Setting | What it does | Allowed values |
| - | - | - |
| **Enabled** | Turns Auto Ping on for this giveaway. | On or off (off by default) |
| **Interval** | How long to wait between reminders. | 0 to 10,080 minutes (up to 7 days) |
| **Maximum pings** | How many reminders to send in total. | 0 to 100. **0 means no limit** until the giveaway ends. |
| **Message** | The text sent with each reminder. | Up to 500 characters |

> For a 7-day giveaway, an interval of **12 hours** (720 minutes) works well: about two reminders a day without feeling spammy. Set **Maximum pings** if you want a hard cap.
