There are two sides to permissions: who can use the bot’s commands, and what the bot itself is allowed to do in your server.

Who can manage giveaways

A member can use the giveaway management commands (/gstart, /gend, /greroll, /gpause, /gresume, /gedit, /gdelete, /glist, /gfix) if they have any of these:

Administrator

Full access.

Manage Server

The standard permission for managing the server.

A Giveaway Manager role

A role you choose, so trusted hosts do not need Manage Server.
Giving hosts a Giveaway Manager role is safer than handing out Manage Server. They can run giveaways without being able to change other server settings.

Command permissions at a glance

Server admins can restrict where each command works. See Command customization.

What the bot needs

If the bot cannot see or post in the channel, the giveaway cannot start and /gfix will report a permission problem. Fix the channel permissions first.
Never give the bot a role below the winner roles you want it to hand out. Discord blocks roles from being assigned to a role that is higher than the bot’s own.
