Temporary voice channels are rolling out. The dashboard page for them is currently marked Soon, so setup options may not be available to your server yet. This page explains how the feature behaves.
With temporary voice channels, members don’t need a moderator to get a voice room. They join a special hub channel, and the bot instantly creates a new voice channel just for them and moves them into it.

How it works

1

A member joins the hub

The hub is a normal voice channel that an admin marked as a hub.
2

A new channel is created

The bot creates a voice channel named after the member, in the hub’s category, and moves them in automatically.
3

The member owns it

The owner can manage the channel: rename it, set a user limit, mute or deafen others, and more. See the controls below.
4

It cleans itself up

When everyone has left, the channel is deleted automatically.

Naming

The channel name comes from a pattern. These placeholders are replaced for each member: The default pattern shows the owner’s name followed by “Channel”. Names are limited to 100 characters.

Rules and defaults

While a member owns a channel from a hub, the hub is locked for them, so they can’t spam new channels. It unlocks when their channel is deleted or they hand it over.

What the owner can control

Each control can be switched on or off by the admin for a hub.

Channel

Rename, user limit, bitrate, region, slowmode, voice status, video quality, NSFW (off by default).

Privacy

Lock the channel, hide it, invite someone (creates an invite and DMs them).

People

Kick, ban, mute and deafen members in the channel.

Ownership

Transfer the channel to another member, or claim it when the owner is gone.

What the bot needs

The bot must be able to Manage Channels, Move Members, Mute Members, Deafen Members, View Channel and Connect in the hub’s category.
If the bot can’t create the channel or move the member, nothing is left behind: a half-created channel is deleted straight away.
